Wedding Photography with the DJI Mavic Air

The DJI Mavic Air 2 began shipping last month, and the reviews are coming in. Smaller and cheaper than its “Pro” partner, the Mavic Air 2 offers incredible obstacle avoidance. For those looking to be a little more mobile possibly brining their Mavic along to destination weddings, the Air 2 can be a great choice over the Pro. Now with the second edition of the DJI Mavic Air, we are getting the ability to capture 48MP raw photos, 4K60 H.265 video, and the more powerful OccuSync 2.0. Here is a review of DJI’s current Mavic lineup.

If size is your main concern, there is always the Mavic Mini. For those of us who may have eyed the larger Mavic Pro for the option of Hasselblad optics and larger sensor, this new 48MP CMOS sensor at near half the price may make many consider the DJI Mavic Air 2 instead.

In the quick video above, Ray Sawyer unboxes his new Mavic Air 2 and goes through his first experiences with the DJI drone as well as images from real weddings. The Smart Photo feature allows for drone photography in difficult lighting conditions with the benefit of HDR Exposure. The new model also boast the most advanced panorama technology with also includes HDR. Software has also seen an improvement with newer versions of Spotlight which allows you to stay locked in on subjects as your drone is on the move and also a newer version of ActiveTrack which is similar to continuous focus.

DJI also has a great article on their blog on drone wedding photography. And finally, if you are looking for additional info and reviews, DroneDJ.com has some videos worth checking out.
